Napier Library is Moving - Quick Guide

Napier Library will be closed from 12 noon, 22 December 2017 and re-opening in a temporary location at MTG Hawke’s Bay (1 Tennyson Street) on 7 February 2018. The Taradale Library (24 White Street, Taradale) will be operating as normal during this time.

BOOK DROP-OFF POINTS
As well as being able to drop books off at Taradale Library, you are also able to drop them off at the following locations:
• MTG Hawke’s Bay
• Kennedy Park Resort
• Pak’nSave Tamatea
• National Aquarium of New Zealand
SUMMER READING PROGRAMME
On Wednesday the 27th of December the Napier Library Summer Reading programme will begin running at MTG Hawke’s Bay. For the rest of the summer Jessie and Matthew will be available to talk to Summer Reading participants at the usual times in the education room of the museum. Some of our events will take place here too.
Many of our planned summer entertainments will be held in Asher Hall, behind Saint Paul’s Presbyterian Church. Please refer to the events flyer or our website to see where each event is scheduled to be.
SEARCH AND RESERVE FOR FREE
Search our catalogue and reserve a book online or at the library and you won’t pay a reservation fee. To reserve (and renew) books online, simply log in to our catalogue using your library card number and password (please ask at the library if you don’t have a password).

There are a vast range of eBooks, online magazines and audiobooks that are free to download from our website 24 hours a day, seven days a week! View the various catalogues available on our website. If you need help getting started, please speak to one of our team and we will go through the process with you.
Napier Library groups will be taking a break in January and resuming at MTG Hawke’s Bay in February. Taradale Library groups will be meeting as usual.
While Napier Library is closed, all newspapers will be available at Taradale Library, and then returning to Napier Library when re-opening at MTG Hawke’s Bay.
Home Services will continue as usual and will be based at Taradale Library. Users will need to contact Taradale Library from 22 December to arrange their next pickup.
EXTENDED OPENING HOURS
It is currently proposed to extend Napier and Taradale Library opening hours. This will be confirmed before 22 December, and if approved will see hours changing from 7 February 2018 to the below:
9.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Sunday
9.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday;
10.00am – 4.00pm Saturday and Sunday

Access to the Napier Library at MTG Hawke’s Bay will be through the main museum entrance (1 Tennyson Street). There will also be an accessible entrance on Herschell Street.
Free transfers are available (within 90 minutes of purchase of original ticket) from Dalton Street bus stop to MTG Hawke’s Bay using the Route 15 Ahuriri/Westshore/Bay View bus. This stops on Marine Parade, right outside MTG Hawke’s Bay/Library. To return to Dalton St, the nearest bus stop is outside the Hawke’s Bay Club, on Browning St. This service commences 7 February 2018.
