Ngaio Marsh Awards event at Napier Library
2017 Ngaio Marsh Awards entrant Rita Ann Ryan is joined by bestselling author Tina Clough to discuss why they write mystery and thriller stories, and how they create compelling characters, craft page-turning plotlines, and are inspired by living in Hawke’s Bay.
Megan Hunt of the Napier Mail will cross-examine the authors to uncover the truth.
Tina Clough was born in Sweden, but now lives in Napier where she translates and edits medical research for a Swedish university, grows organic produce, and writes crime and suspense stories. Her third novel, The Chinese Proverb, was released earlier this year to great reviews and earned a top 5 spot on the New Zealand fiction bestseller list.
Rita Ann Ryan is the pen name of Wairoa author Margie Sullivan, who has had careers in journalism, business, and healthcare. Her debut novel, A Confidential Agreement, introduces local psychologist Frida Delaney, who is thrust into a world of murder and fraud when she returns home to find her neighbour’s body. She’s currently writing a sequel.
